Program Outline and Goals
The goal of this program is to give all children the opportunity to play tackle football in a fun and safe environment. This is a basic program with the emphasis being on learning the game rules, structure and overall fundamentals. All players shall have equal opportunities to play all positions on both offense and defense, a rotation of players should be implemented to ensure this. Remember this is basic football so try your best to keep it simple and follow the playbooks provided. The playbook is a simplified version of the varsity program and a key factor to building a winning program as a whole. Exciting news for parents of 2nd & 3rd graders:
MYFA has made changes to the layout of the 2nd & 3rd grade tackle football program. The changes made are geared to more accurately portray the game of football and in turn, better teach the kids the rules, regulations, speed and overall feel of a real football game.
Some changes made are:
• New game format
• Time clock
• First downs
• Extra points
• Kicking game
• Game referees
• Help reinforce rules and improve player safety
• Allow coaches to focus on coaching the players
• Actual football fields
• (3) 60 yard football fields will be located at the Little Mountain Elementary School
